why we were here

a rooster teeth shrine

the basics.
001. what was rooster teeth?
rooster teeth (hereafter abbreviated as RT, referred to in the past tense except when it's not) was a company founded in 2003, by six guys in texas: Burnie Burns, Joel Heyman, Matt Hullum, Geoff Ramsey, Jason Saldana, and Gus Sorola. it made all sorts of content, like live action videos, let's plays and other gaming content, and even cool animated shows!! sadly, the company got shut down in 2024 after 21 years.

BUT BURNIE BURNS BOUGHT THE RIGHTS BACK TO A BIG CHUNK OF THE CONTENT AND ROOSTER TEETH LIVES!!!
002. what were some of rooster teeth's works?
(this is NOT an exhaustive list. consult here for a better and more indepth list.)

rt, like i said, made all kinds of content. they made stuff like podcasts (such as the aptly named Rooster Teeth Podcast, or Always Open), live action shorts and TV shows, video game let's plays (mostly through their subdivisions), animated shows (if you've heard of the shows Red vs. Blue or RWBY, that's them), and they even made some feature films!
003. wait, back up. they had subdivisions?
yes! one of the most well known was Achievement Hunter, which despite the name doesn't hunt achievements.
another one of them was the california-based Funhaus, which was kinda like achievement hunter's more fucked up (affectionate) twin.
there were also divisions like Cow Chop, Sugar Pine 7, and Inside Gaming, which were more distant from the main company but were still affiliated.

A poster of Rooster Teeth by bethany-sellers, featuring several different people doing various different things; in the top left, 5 guys are gathered round a tower of Minecraft blocks (3 gold, 1 obsidian). in the middle right, there is a guy holding a platypus, toasting using a soda can, a guy in a king's robe and crown looking smug, and a soldier in orange halo armor holding another soda can. in the bottom right there's an orange cat resting, two guys sitting at a wooden crate, with one of them looking eagerly at the gold bars stacked on the tables, while a girl in white clothing looms over him from behind. in the bottom center there is a soldier in light teal armor with their arm resting on the left shoulder of the girl in dark red clothing next to them, who looks on in disapproval.
my own experiences with rt
001. how did you find rt?
i first came into knowledge of rooster teeth in roughly 2021, when i watched the first 6 volumes of rwby (+ ten little roosters) on streaming. i didn't really get properly into the company's works until 2022, but after the kdin jenzen mistreatment controversy in october 2022 i left them behind again. i had regained my fixation on them briefly back in early/mid 2024 (as a result of the company closing), than even briefer in feburary 2025 (when burnie bought the company back), but then i got it back (hopefully for good) in september 2025.

002. who/what are your faves?
in terms of people involved with the company, i really like geoff, burnie, barbara, chris (demarais), trevor, matt, lindsay, gavin, jack, fiona, lawrence, elyse, james, and alanah, among others.

for podcasts in particular i like fuckface/regulation podcast, off topic, and the main rooster teeth podcast.

as for everything else....i like uno the movie and the jackbox game let's plays, xray and vav, rvb, that one rt short about the door with the gavin clones, the little roosters shows, day 5, the shenanigans stuff with the gamertag and jeremy's desk, that funhaus scrobbles bit, and a lot more.
003. ...why do you like them?
they genuinely just appeal to me so much; the kind of offbeat and unique humor that their works have resonates deeply with my mindset. their works are uniquely beautiful to me in their own way, immature dick jokes and all. its hard to describe in detail, tbh.
